Merlot & Cabernet

Our popular blend of Merlot and Cabernet returns to the cellar door with this medium bodied, easy-drinking beauty.

This wine combines the softness of Merlot and the depth of Cab Sav. Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon are two varieties from the famous Brodeaux region in France and are typically blended together, often also joined by Cabernet Franc the third variety in the famous Bordeaux blends.

When blended, Merlot and Cab Sav produce supple, soft wines with the Merlot component adding balance and structure. A good early drinking wine with sweet fruit characters from the Merlot, this is a restrained and approachable style that complements food perfectly.

Deep ruby red in colour, the nose exhibits ripe plum and fruitcake spice with savoury hints. Ripe berry flavours on the palate follow through to a velvety mouthfeel and fine tannin. This wine has excellent balance with a lingering, persistent finish. $20/bottle at cellar door.
