Tulloch Viognier
Special Cellar Door Release
Vintage: 2009
Viognier
A welcomed inclustion to Tulloch's popular Cellar Door Only Range, Viognier is a white wine variety native to the Northern Rhone region in France.
Viognier has risen to notoriety of late in Australia where it is some times blended in small portions with Shiraz resulting in an intense perfume on the nose. It is also traditionally used for blending with other white French varietals such as Marsanne and Rousanne, but in typical Tulloch style we have kept our first release of this unusual wine as a straight varietal.
Pale straw in colour, this wine exhibits complex aromas of ripe stone fruits with hints of citrus on the palate, balanced by well integrated creamy oak characters. This wine is best enjoyed in its youth.
Fruit for this wine was sourced from a small premium parcel of Viogneir at our landmark vineyard in the Upper Hunter Valley. We will continue to make this wine as conditions allow in future vintages. $20/bottle at cellar door.
